The holidays (in addition to Christmas, there are Hanukkah and Divali) are creeping up. So, do you have your materials ready?

• How about some emails that offer coupons and talk about your holiday specials?
• Or a thoughtful "Dear Valued Customer" letter that touches the heart?

5. Tip: Swap files

Product managers and sales! Do you have a "swap file," a file (or group of files) of marketing pieces you like? It's not just for writers and designers. Sales and PMs should have them too. It's a lot easier to show something you like, and expand off it of it, than to wave your arms wildly and hope your creatives "get" what you mean.

Mini Tip: When writing copy for a Content Management System, make sure you have copies of your source files on your hard drive. I almost ran into a problem when changes I made in a CMS were erased, and the only backups were on the server. Fortunately, I knew the CMS was balky, and didn't trust it, so I backed things up to my hard drive.
